Feliks Kopera. A History of Painting in Poland. Vol. 1–3 (in 2 vols.). Kraków [1925–1929]. Trzaska, Evert, and Michalski, pp. VII, 250, [2], plate 24 (including 7 color plates and 12 rotogravures), 211 illustrations in the text; [4], 345, [1], plate 52 (including 15 color plates and 26 rotogravures), 313 illustrations in the text; XII, 572, 103 plates (including 31 chromotypes and multicolored rotogravures), 27.5 cm, deluxe hardcover edition with embossing and gilding.
The first comprehensive study of the history of Polish painting, published at great expense, with rich illustrative material, including numerous color plates. Volume 1: Medieval Painting in Poland; Volume 2: Painting in Poland from the 16th to the 18th Century (Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo). Volume 3 is entirely devoted to 19th- and 20th-century Polish painting. The work is the result of more than a dozen years of labor by its author, Feliks Kopera (1871–1952), an outstanding Polish art historian and long-time director of the National Museum in Kraków. The illustrations were created using photographic negatives—now of inestimable value—that were housed at the time in numerous Polish museums, including the pre-war collections of the National Museum in Kraków. One variant of the deluxe binding: brown half-leather binding, leather corners; on the five-panel spine, a gilded medallion in the center featuring eagles supporting a painter’s palette, with the title in one panel, the volume number in the next, and decorative elements in the remaining panels. A piece from the library of Janusz Jeljaszewicz (1930–2001), a bibliophile and professor of microbiology (stamps). In good condition. A nice piece.Последно разглеждани позиции
