A valuable collection of source materials on the history of Poland from the 15th to the 18th century, prepared for publication by Leopold Hubert (1832–1884) —a historian, archivist, and publisher of historical sources, and an employee of the Central Archives of the Kingdom of Poland. The publication includes 65 historical documents, drawn primarily from the Crown Register, accompanied by the publisher’s introductions and a personal index enriched with biographical information. The materials were ready for print as early as 1859, but publication was delayed by censorship. Some of the documents published by Hubert are today the only surviving evidence of archival sources lost during World War II.
