1919 10 zlotych banknote , "WZÓR" (Prototype), Series S. 4. A., without a prototype print run number.
A prototype of one of the rarest Polish 10 zlotych banknotes from 1919, with the clause printed on the reverse side against a brown background. The banknote features the word “WZÓR” ( with a period) printed diagonally on both sides , between two parallel lines, along with the text “Bez wartości” (“No value”) printed twice on each side of the banknote; all text is in red. Serial number: 030583, without perforations or a proof issue number.
This variant of the design for this denomination, lacking the design issue number, is the rarest; only 10 different pieces are known (out of 34 known designs in total), and this auction features one of them.*
A beautiful piece, confirmed by a high PMG grading—this is the HIGHEST GRADE for this banknote in the PMG registry. This piece has small stapler holes typical of these designs, along with minor traces of rust in the same location—as noted in the description on the slab.
This banknote will be an excellent alternative: instead of the unattainable 1919 10 zlotych note (with the clause printed on the reverse on a brown background), you can fill that spot in your album with this variant.
