Biography
She graduated from the Department of Interior Architecture at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław. In addition to oil paintings, drawings on paper, and prints, she created both industrial designs and installations that engage the viewer. Her work was recognized early in her career for its unique composition and suspenseful color combinations. The artist often described her compositions—characterized by precision and discipline—as “speculative fantasy.” Her inspiration stemmed from physical phenomena observed under a microscope. The way molecules transform, their metamorphoses, syntheses, and the observation of various structures were key elements of her painting. She described her working method—which involved equating light with color—as “colorful passage painting.” She compared this method to the musical “grissando”—a technique involving a smooth transition from one note to another. Wrzeszczyńska’s geometric abstraction of the 1970s was preceded by a series of figurative-realist works on paper (including *Portrait of Franciszek Starowieyski*, *Woman with a Basket of Fruit*), as well as experiments with geometry (including prints from the “Crystalline Structures” series).
