The print comes from a portfolio published by Krakow artists in 1884 to help flood victims in Galicia;
Michał Pociecha - Painter, illustrator. Studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow (1869-75) under Jan Matejko and Władysław Łuszczkiewicz, and from 1875 at the Munich academy under Ludwig Löfftz. During his studies he was twice awarded medals. He exhibited his works at the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Cracow (from 1875) and the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts and the Krywult Salon in Warsaw, aswell as in Vienna, Prague and Lvov. Hisfavoritetechniquewas watercolor, less often oil.He was primarily alandscape painter, less frequentlypainting portraits and historical scenes. Hedrewwith charcoal andcrayon -landscapes, genre scenes, portraits,architecture. His workswereeagerly reproduced in magazines and onpostcards.
