Zbigniew Lutomski—Polish printmaker, painter, and educator born in 1934 in Grodno. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where he received his degree in 1960. After graduation, he worked as an educator; since 1965, he has led a woodcut studio, and since 1996, he has been a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań and Kraków. From 1985 to 1991, he served as curator of the International Print Biennial and the International Print Triennial in Kraków. He has repeatedly chaired the juries of national and international exhibitions. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including at the Graphic Arts Biennial and Triennial in Kraków (1962, 1966, 1970, 1986, 1991), at the National Graphic Arts Competitions and Exhibitions in Łódź (1969, 1973, 1975, 1979, 1981, 1987, 1989), at the J. Gielniak National Print Competition in Jelenia Góra (1979, 1983, 1997, 2003), at the Woodcut Quadriennale in Olsztyn (1987, 1991, 1995, 1999), as well as second prize at the International Woodcut Exhibition in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia (1968), the Tokyo Mayor’s Award at the Tokyo Print Biennial (1968), awards at the International Print Exhibition in Portland (1997), and many others. He was a member of the international Xylon association in Switzerland and is an honorary member of the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge.
