Biography
Painter, sculptor, and printmaker. From 1889 to 1895, he studied in Munich under W. von Rümann. In 1895, the Berlin Academy awarded him the Prix de Rome for his sculpture *Arion*. From 1895, he lived and worked in Rome, and in 1910, after returning to Poland, he took over the chair of sculpture at the State School of Fine Arts in Warsaw, which had been vacated by X. Dunikowski. From 1928 onward, he lived in New York, rarely sending works to exhibitions in Poland. He created works in wood, marble, bronze, and plaster—group sculptures, busts, and portraits.
