Emil Habdank Dunikowski (1855-1924) - a graduate of the Universities of Lviv, Munich and Vienna, is one of the most prominent Polish scientists who specialized in earth sciences, and continued his professional career in Lviv of the Austrian era. Sociable, hardworking and curious about the world, he devoted his time to uncovering the mysteries of geology, actively developing Polish research in Galicia. While carrying out research assignments in various parts of the globe (including North Africa, North America, Europe, the Russian Maritime Country), he satisfied his passion for travel by providing aptly crafted descriptions of nature in its broadest sense.
