An account of the author's travels in Inochina (Burma, Shan States, Siam, Tonkin, Laos). Among other things, the author describes the various ethnic groups, their characteristics, culture, religious practices and traditions, as well as landscapes and historical facts. Isabelle Massieu was one of the first female explorers to travel with a camera, which allowed her to enrich her work with illustrations.
