After 30 years of work, on July 29, 1836, the Arc de Triomphe begun under Napoleon was finally inaugurated. The great celebration that was to have taken place was canceled for fear of an attempt on the life of King Louis-Philippe I. Only eleven people attended. Only eleven people were present, including the President of the Council of Ministers, Adolphe Thiers, the Minister of Finance, Antoine Maurice Apollinaire Argout, six national guards, the monument's janitor, and two official visitors. This box was probably presented to one of these personalities at the inauguration.
