1 Shilling 1976, a commemorative circulation coin of the Democratic Republic of Somalia, issued as part of the FAO program.
The obverse depicts the coat of arms of Somalia featuring a shield and two leopards. The reverse features a lamb, the denomination “1 Shilling,” and the date “1976” written in Arabic and Western numerals.
The coin is struck in cupronickel. Weight: 6.22 g; diameter: 25.2 mm. Minted by the Royal Mint in Llantrisant.
Catalog mintage: 20,040,000 pieces.
The coin is from the “Coins of All Nations” collector’s series issued by The Franklin Mint and comes in its original envelope along with a postage stamp and a postmark.
The envelope is complemented by a 1982 Somali postage stamp with a face value of 1 shilling, depicting a woman in traditional attire and headdress.
The envelope was postmarked by the philatelic section in Mogadishu.
The issue comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from The Franklin Mint.
