1540 is a yearbook closing a long sequence of successive minting of pennies in Danzig (years 1530-1540). Being the penultimate penny of this city from the time of King Sigismund, as a small batch of these coins is still minted in the year of his death (1548).
Variety with a type 5I bust (early type for this year).
The obverse legend ending in PRVS.
Additionally with a double star above the cross from the king's crown.
