Biography
Painter, graphic designer, creative manager. Graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, graduated with the title of Master of Arts in 2001 - diploma with rector's honor in the studio of Graphic Design and Poster Design of Prof. Mieczyslaw Wasilewski. She creates abstract paintings, collages, drawings and graphics, the main means of expression in the artist's works is color and contrasting, organic and geometric graphic forms. Among other things, in her work she is inspired by nature and its dynamics - the richness of colors, contrasts and shapes - the penetration of the unique structures of the organic world. A significant place in the artist's portfolio of inspiration has recently been occupied by the Polish folk art of the Lowicz region - elements inspired by Lowicz art appear in symbolic or more realistic form in her work. She works in series. She has participated in group exhibitions, including the 47th Winter Salon, the Art Biennale at the Museum of Modern Art Elektrownia in Radom (2023), the 13th Triennial of Small Painting Forms at the Wozownia Art Gallery in Toruń (2025) and the 2nd Triennial of the Łódzkie Voivodeship Cutouts at the Museum in Łowicz (2023). Joanna Pongowska's works are in private collections in Poland and around the world - including the USA, France and Germany. She paints with acrylic paints on canvas and paper, in addition to her paintings she creates colorful objects from paper. After years spent in exile in Paris, France and the USA, among others, she returned to Poland. After inspiring professional experiences - working as a creative manager, years filled with intensive travel and projects, she returned to her own work. In 2017, she presented her paintings for the first time in a solo exhibition entitled Botanicum. She currently lives and works in Warsaw, and during the summer season creates in a studio on the border of Mazovia and Podlasie, surrounded by nature.
