Three-section silver-plated cake stand, Napoleon III style, Phenix, France
A unique three-section platter, resting on three decorative legs, in the Napoleon III style. The rim is decorated with a motif, and the joints between the individual sections feature stylized leaves. The handle is shaped like lion’s paws, decorated at the top with stylized leaves and a pinecone. Manufacturer’s hallmark (Phenix—likely a French silversmith active in Lyon in the early 20th century) and “24.” The platter is soiled/tarnished, with traces of cleaning chalk. Traces of green tarnish on the underside of one of the legs.
