German painter, medalist and sculptor of the 20th century, especially of the interwar period. After an apprenticeship as a locksmith, from 1896 trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Frankfurt. 1900 to 1902 worked as an ornamental draftsman. 1902 to 1904 studies at the Städelschule in Frankfurt. Then studied with Hermann Groeber in Munich. Worked as an industrial draftsman and sculptor, designed medals and bookplates. Created mainly views of his hometown Höchst and industrial plants such as the Krupp factories. Stylistically elements of Magic Realism and New Objectivity recognizable.
