Stanislaw "Stacha" Halpern - painter, sculptor,born October 20, 1919, died January 28, 1969. After the German aggression in 1939, Halpern emigrated d Australia. He settled in Melbourne where he spent most of his career. He painted abstract works inspired by urban scenes. Travels to Europe led him to experiment with expressionism. the genre of portraiture.
Halpern's paintings, sculptures and ceramics are today in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
