PROTOTYPE (GIUGIARO) Prototype bicycle designed by Engineer Stefano Cingolani, Fiat executive, in the 1970s.Engineer Cingolani sought the collaboration of Giorgetto Giugiaro to showcase the bicycle at the Wind Tunnel, where aerodynamic tests were conducted on vehicles. This Wind Tunnel was also the first of its kind built in the world.Alberto Fumagalli from Italdesign Giugiaro left a letter to the current owner, attached to the lot, clearly indicating the origin of the bicycle as a prototype designed, engineered, and built by Engineer Cingolani but brought to the wind tunnel for aerodynamic testing as a prototype under the Design of Giorgetto Giugiaro. The prototype was created as a unique specimen, evident in the meticulous craftsmanship of all mechanical components from that era, as well as the superstructure organized and constructed with thin strips of highly flexible exotic wood. All cycling components are from Campagnolo. In some attached photos, Giugiaro's design can be observed alongside the prototype bicycle, presumably consulted for design opinions. The bicycle is approximately 2 meters long and constructed with wood and aluminum.
The bicycle reached a speed of 70 km/h.
Original from the 1970s.
