Polish painter, illustrator and filmmaker, one of the most important contemporary artists
in Poland. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Since the turn of the 1990s, he has been associated with Galeria
Raster, where he presented some of his most important exhibitions, shaping the
language of new Polish art.
Sasnal's work combines figuration with an analysis of media images, memory, history and
everyday life. The artist draws on photography, pop culture and personal experience,
operating with a characteristic synthesis of form.
Sasnal's works have been shown at leading institutions around the world, including MoMA in
New York, the Tate Modern in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Guggenheim
Museum. He participated in the Venice Biennale (2005). His works can be found in
prestigious public and private collections.
The posters from the exhibitions at Raster Gallery are important material
documenting an early and crucial stage of the artist's work - a period in which he
he defined his visual language and gained international recognition.
Work from the series: "Posters from the Past and Future," 2003: series of 6 silkscreen prints, edition of
100 numbered and signed copies. Project prepared as part of the Fair
Cheap Art at Raster Gallery in Warsaw. Series of posters designed by
W. Sasnal for his own exhibitions that took place at Raster until 2003
as well as for projects that could take place in the future. The posters were
printed at the Tarnospin printing house in Tarnów, covered by the status of a sheltered workshop
sheltered workshop, with which the artist has collaborated on most of his prints and art books
art books.
