Shizudo, Okimono of bone signed Shizudo, depicting a samurai with his son

The bone figurine depicts a samurai going for a walk with his son. The father hands his thirsty son a bowl with a drink stored in a calabash, which he carries on his shoulder alongside a sword. The figurine has been made with extreme attention to detail - you can see the precise lines of engraving that create the patterns on the clothes of both figures, including classic Japanese floral and geometric motifs. The couple is dressed in traditional attire: hakama, kimono and haori. The faces of the figures stand out for their subtle rendering. All this emphasizes the craftsman's mastery. The figurine is set on a stable stand. On the bottom of the okimono is the artist's signature in red lace : Shizudo.
