1916 10 Polish Mark Banknote, Series A - COUNTERFEIT TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE ISSUER
A variant with an early clause, featuring the incorrectly capitalized word “Biletów” (written with a capital letter); however, this is a high-quality counterfeit to the detriment of the issuer, produced on paper without a watermark. The counterfeit was removed from circulation; it bears a note written in carbon pencil on the upper margin, and two ink stamps featuring the coat of arms of the General Government are affixed in the center—one on the obverse, the other on the reverse.
The banknote shows heavy signs of circulation; the central section has been repaired by gluing and taping. An interesting piece for collectors of historical counterfeits made to the detriment of the issuer.
