Photographic proof of unissued 1 muštinis 1920. In August 1919, the
Cabinet of Ministers decided to name the national currency “muštinis“.
The patterns of notes were to be designed by the artists A.
Žmuidzinavičius and A. Galdikas and printed in Sweden. The project,
however, was not carried out and the introduction of a national currency
was postponed for more than 3 years. For more information about
“muštinis“ see here.
Size: 113 x 73 mm.
Face and back separately.
In
2014, the english auction house SPINK sold photographic archives of
nowadays nonexistent printing works BRADBURY WILKINSON & CO. These
archives included photographic copies of projects of notes, which were
to be printed, but the project resulted in failure and, as a result,
these notes never went into circulation.
