This mug, associated with a German gymnastics association, is decorated with a scene depicting a man holding a flag bearing the 4F symbol: Frisch (fresh), Fromm (pious/devoted), Fröhlich (cheerful), Frei (free). The medallion features a portrait of the founder, Johann Heinrich Felsing. Above it is an inscription with the motto: “Halte treu zur Turnerei,” meaning “Remain faithful to gymnastics.”
The bottom is marked “GERMANY 1241.”
Condition: good; visible enamel loss on the bottom; the pewter lid is deformed and detached from its hinge.
