Biography
One of the most famous Polish illustrators and graphic artists. Her unique technique is characterized by expressiveness, realism, extraordinary attention to even the smallest details of drawing. Maria Orłowska-Gabryś has illustrated more than a hundred books, including: Clare Compton's Cukiernia pod Pierożkiem z Wiśniami (originally published by the Publishing Institute "Nasza Księgarnia" and later reissued by the publishing house Dwie Siostry in the series "Mistrzowie ilustracji"), The Fairy Tale Tells by Maria Niklewiczowa, The Black Sheep and Reksio and Puck by Jan Grabowski, Boys from the Bronze Square by Ferenc Molnár, Kichus the Foreman Lepiglina by Jan Porazinska, The Kingdom of Fairy Tales by Ewa Szelburg-Zarembina, Edith Nesbit's fantasy-adventure series (Five Children and Something, The Phoenix and the Carpet, The Story of the Amulet), The Garden by Maria Kownacka, The School Adventures of Pimpus Sadełko by Maria Konopnicka, as well as Astrid Lindgren's novels Mio, My Mio and Rasmus and the Tramp.
