Jan Karmanski (1887-1958) Polish painter. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and was a student of Konrad Krzyzanowski and Ferdynand Ruszczyc. In the years 1913-1914 he stayed in Paris. Since 1924, he settled permanently in Kazimierz Dolny and belonged to the Society of Friends of Kazimierz, founded by local artists, with which he exhibited his works. In 1956 he joined the Kazimier Group, which was founded by Zenon Kononowicz. He participated in many national and international exhibitions. His work is mostly Kazimier landscapes, painted with a wide color patch, inspired by the work of Cezanne. He rests in the cemetery in Kazimierz Dolny.
