DVXMOSCOVIÆ (Peter, son of Alexis, by the grace of God Russian Emperor and Grand Duke of Moscow). Rev.: Winged Victory flying among the clouds, holding a laurel wreath and captured Swedish standard above a battlefield plan. Inscription around: PVGNA AD VASAM (Battle at Vasa). Below the truncation: DIE XIX FEBR • S • V • / MDCCXIV (19 February 1714, Old Style). This medal commemorates the Russian victory at the Battle of Vasa during the Great Northern War, where Russian forces once again demonstrated military dominance over the Swedish army. In the Russian Empire, tin-lead alloy medals were primarily produced for collectors and educational use.
