Italian short sword

Wide double-edged blade, with a short double-edged cut in the upper third, bearing the letters 'IHS'. Decorative grooves near the cut-outs. Iron hilt, flat guard arching into a guard curving towards the blade and ending in a chased bird's head. One guard ring. Original wooden handle wrapped with braided wire, Turkish brass wire rings. Flat sword pommel with remnants of gilding. Probably Venice, 1st half of the 16th century, length 72 cm. Condition 2+

Condition 2+, Broad, double-edged blade with the round tip, the upper third with fullers stamped with the IHS monogram on both sides, surrounded by ornamental lines. Beautiful, iron flat stirrup hilt with downward-curved quillon with end chiselled with a bird head. Ring-guard. Original, wooden grip with wire binding and moor's heads of brass wire. Reachly decorated flat pommel has remnants of gilding. Pobably Venice, 1st half of the 16th century, langth 72 cm. Condition 2+
