Maria Collin was born in 1942 in Wadowice. In 1960, she began her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the guidance of Artur Nacht Samborski. In 1965, she settled permanently in France, in the Paris region, which she did not leave until 2013, when she moved to the French countryside. She is no stranger to socially engaged themes, but her painting is dominated above all by a search for beauty and the joy of life in the smallest fragments of everyday life—the charm of a bouquet of flowers, the idyllic landscape of the surrounding fields: “those extraordinary sunsets, those valleys, those fields before the harvest, the morning mist, wildflowers, garden flowers… How could one not be swept away by such beauty… I just had to pick up my brushes!”
