DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Painted based on the author's ideal of beauty, linear female portraits were the mainstream of Roman Zakrzewski's work. In the presented painting, the artist depicted a woman sitting on a chair in an interior. The outfit and gesture of the figure depicted testify to her modesty, but the gaze of blue eyes fixed on the viewer builds an atmosphere of intimacy and makes the image extremely feminine. An interesting treatment is the opening of the composition thanks to the placement of a mirror, which supposedly replaces the window with a view of the landscape, frequent in Roman Zakrzewski's work. The painting was painted in a characteristic style, inspired by the paintings of the artist's master, Jerzy Nowosielski.
