John II Casimir, 1661 GBA six-real coin, Lviv—a rare and beautiful piece
Type VI (Ciura) bust.
The Ślepowron coat of arms (of Jan Kazimierz Krasiński—Grand Treasurer of the Crown) is divided by a circumferential inscription on the obverse.
On the reverse, on either side of the shield bearing the Snopek coat of arms (the coat of arms of the Vasa family), are the letters G B – A (the initials of Giovanni Battista Ammureti—the leaseholder of the Lviv Mint).
A variant with profiled coat-of-arms shields. The upper edges of the coats of arms are decorated with bows.
The Vasa coat of arms is presented in an oval cartouche.
A variant with inscriptions: the king’s title “IOAN CASI … POL ET SVE” in the rim on the obverse and “… ARGEN SEX REG POL …” in the rim on the reverse.
Condition: 1-/2+
Minor imperfections in the metal and strike, but the coin is beautifully preserved. Beautiful detail. Intense luster and mint mirror finish . A rarer variety. In this condition, the coin is rare and hard to find on the collector’s market. A beautiful piece for discerning collectors.
