A very rare denomination minted exclusive in 1565.
The Vilnius dwagrosh was introduced into circulation along with the quadruplets as a convenient common currency for Lithuania and the Crown, since, as Marian Gumowski describes it , "when evaluating Lithuanian coins for Crown coins, one always received inconvenient fractions...".
Unlike the quadruplets, however, their issuance was quickly discontinued.
A piece that stands out from many other coins of this type, due to the lack of large sheet losses and scarcity.
Old dark patina, even minting, well crumpled stamp - very nice plate.
