Rare participant's badge of the 10th Congress of Polish Physicians and Natural Scientists, held in Lwów from 22 to 25 July 1907. The Congresses of Polish Physicians and Natural Scientists, inaugurated in 1869, ranked among the most important scientific gatherings in the Polish lands under the partitions, bringing together leading representatives of medicine, the natural sciences, and the exact sciences. The Lwów congress attracted several hundred participants from all three partitioned territories, becoming a significant demonstration of the unity of the Polish scientific community.
An integral part of the event was the Natural History, Medical and Hygiene Exhibition, organised especially for the congress. It presented the latest achievements in medicine, hygiene, pharmacy, biology, chemistry, and scientific instrumentation, and was one of the largest exhibitions of its kind held in Lwów before the First World War. A number of official programmes, catalogues, and organisational publications were issued in connection with the congress and the exhibition.
The present badge features an openwork design incorporating the inscription "10th Congress of Polish Physicians and Natural Scientists – Lwów 1907". It is a rare surviving memento of one of the most important scientific events held in the Polish lands at the beginning of the twentieth century.
Pin-back fastening.
Badge from the Collection of Lech Kokociński, Honorary President of the Polish Numismatic Society.
