Eagle with monogram JP - Legionary Union. 36 x 29mm. Made of brass, silver-plated. One-piece, reverse with counter. Mounted on a post, no cap. Analogous pieces are published in Tomasz Zawistowski's book, "Polish cap eagles 1900-1917", p. 261. These eagles came into use in August 1939, based on an order from the ZL Headquarters. Former Legionnaires wore: "maciejówki of the 1914 shooting type. The maciejówka will henceforth be in force at all official mass appearances of legionaries." At the same time, it was specified that the caps were to bear "an eagle of the cadre eagle type with the letters J.P. (oxidized plate). [?] Cadre eagles will be made centrally in Warsaw and distributed for a fee of 35 pennies per piece". Very good condition.
