In an interior with a heavy red curtain drawn to the left, a young lady to the right in a reddish skirt with a small train and gold embroidery, a dark blouse with ruffles over it, a dark hat with yellow-green feathers on her head with coiffed hair. She also wears precious gold jewelry around her neck. She has a delicate, fine face and is looking slightly upwards out of the side of the picture with her shining eyes. The sitter is one of a series of portraits by the artist of personalities of the time, including countesses, baronesses, singers and actresses, as well as high-ranking ladies of society. Sensual, high-quality painting in the typical manner of the famous Austrian painter. Rest.
Makart is considered the representative painter of the Ringstrasse era. He was appointed to Vienna at the behest of Emperor Franz Josef I, where he was given his own studio. His most important role models were Titian (1485-1576) and Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640). His works are characterized by strong sensuality and lush patos. They have often been characterized as a "riot of color". (14204540) (18))
