Adam Marczukiewicz studied at the Faculty of Graphics of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow: painting in the studio of Prof. Zbysław Marek Maciejewski, lithography in the studio of Prof. Włodzimierz Kunz. He received his diploma in 1986, and from 1987 to 1989 was an assistant in the lithography studio at his alma mater. He has been exhibiting since 1986 and had many solo shows in Germany. In 1987 he won the Grand Prix at the "Konfrontacje Najmłodszych Artystów Krakowa" (Confrontations of the Youngest Artists of Cracow), and in 1988 he won the third prize in the "Graphics of the Year" competition. His paintings represent the characteristics of the Cracow faction of colorism, such as a predilection for saturated, warm colors, a tendency to give them a decorative function, movement, joy, sensuality emanating from his canvases regardless of the motifs they depict. The artist focuses on classical subjects such as portrait, landscape, still life. He also paints figural scenes, played by figures in fantastic costumes and settings, compared by critics to actors of a kind of commedia dell'arte. From the last period dates a large series of "Opuntias," inspired by the original shape of these plants in their natural environment of the southern islands and highlands of Spain.
