"In classical antiquity, nudity was one of the attributes of divine beings, it symbolized their elevation above the norms and limitations restraining mortals. (...) This convention became inherent in the artistic manner of academia and Wygrzywalski often used it, transforming ordinary landscapes into, if you will, fairy landscapes populated by nymphs, sylphs and tritons. Often these figures are not occupied with any particular activity. Their very presence gives the depicted scene some kind of special, intangible charm that goes beyond a simple appreciation of the beauty of the landscape."
