Adolf Milich (1884-1964) was a Polish painter whose childhood was spent in Lodz, where he first encountered the local art community. He began his formal artistic education at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1901-1902), and continued his studies in Munich (1903-1904) and Paris. From 1905 to 1915 he spent time in Italy, where he absorbed the influence of Renaissance masters, which had a significant impact on his later work. He spent the following years in Switzerland (1916-1920), where he was granted citizenship of Lugano in 1952.
In 1920 Milich settled permanently in Paris, where he became an active member of the Union of Polish Painters and Sculptors. During World War II, he returned to Switzerland, avoiding the chaos of war.

Milich's work is characterized by a classical approach to composition, economy of means of expression and intense, brilliant colors. The artist favored a traditional approach to art, shying away from avant-garde movements, focusing on studying ancient and modern masters. His works are mainly landscapes, with an emphasis on Mediterranean motifs, but also still lifes, which are distinguished by their carefully considered composition and subtle play of light.

Adolf Milich has left behind a rich body of work, which is appreciated for its masterful approach to color and form, as well as for its faithful rendering of the beauty of nature and everyday objects.
