August III of Saxony, Thaler 1756 EDC, Leipzig – a rare and beautiful coin
Obverse:
A bust in right profile, wearing a crown and armor.
Inscription on the rim: D G AVGVSTVS III REX POLONIARUM
Reverse:
Beneath the crown, a five-field shield bearing the coats of arms of Poland, Lithuania, and the Saxons. Below the shields are the initials EDC (Ernest Dietrich Croll—Master of the Leipzig Mint).
Inscription on the rim: SAC ROM IMP ARCHIM ET ELECT 1756

A beautifully struck and well-preserved piece. Three-dimensional relief. Beautiful detail. Luster and mint mirror finish. Mint condition confirmed by a very high NGC grade. In this condition, the coin is rare and difficult to find on the collector’s market. A beautiful piece for discerning collectors.
