Sławomir Chrystow (b. 1976) — an artist based in Kraków, painter, draftsman, and printmaker.
From 1996 to 2001, he studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, earning his diploma in the woodcut studio of Prof. Zbigniew Lutowski. In his work, he combines painting, drawing, and linocut, and in addition to traditional means of expression, he also draws inspiration from the Eastern art of ebru and calligraphy. His art draws on archetypes, literature, myths, and symbols, weaving together the aesthetics of various cultures and eras. A special place in the artist’s body of work is held by a series of 12 illustrations for Jan Potocki’s *The Manuscript Found in Saragossa*, presented at prestigious exhibitions in Łańcut, the Royal Castle in Warsaw,
in Rome (the Corso Polonia Festival and the Polish Embassy), and at the Polish Library in Paris.
He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including prizes from the NGM competitions in Kraków and the International Graphic Arts Biennial in Granada.
