Biography
Trained as a designer, living and working between Warsaw and Lublin for several years. He began the development of traditional oil painting at the turn of the century, and his attempts to find, crystallize and develop an independent workshop and narrative style continue to this day.
Grzegorz Czechowski's paintings are rooted in imagination, and the fleeting frames, plucked from within it, capture the mood of oneiric, ambiguous visions, which, by juxtaposing well-known motifs in a distorted way, build a space without attachment to suggestion, free in perception and ambiguous in discovering the read sense.
Compositions sometimes clearly indefinite, abstract, sometimes with a feature of realistic shapes, sometimes with an absent space, are inherent features of the message, while the very way of creating images is interwoven with characteristic vibrating lines with broadly laid and alternating strokes of hard and soft brush. The paintings provoke one to pause at least for a moment, to focus on them, so that they can penetrate the depths of the viewer's imagination and shape individual and new meanings in it.
The artist's work has found expression in the solo exhibition "Clichés from Thought" at the 101 Project Gallery (2022), as well as in subsequent editions of the prestigious series "Fantastic Art in Warsaw" at the Museum of Fantastic Art (2022-2024).
