Zofia Poreyko (Porejko), née Kajzerstein-Karżewska (1899-1996), painter, wife of sculptor Wladyslaw Poreyka (d. 1966). In 1923-35 she studied as a free student at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts under Milosz Kotarbinski, Mieczyslaw Kotarbinski and Tadeusz Pruszkowski. During her studies she received numerous awards and decorations (in 1924, 1926, and annually in 1931-35). In 1948-50 she studied at the Faculty of Conservation at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. She was a member of the Fourth Group and the Bloc of Professional Artists. She painted oil paintings, known today only by their titles, including: December 1914, Plein Air, Girl with a Dog (all 1936), Dream of a Vagabond (exhibit 1936), Deptak in Kazimierz (1937), Grand Marshal (exhibit 1937), Nadzamcze Czorsztyńskie (exhibit 1938), Sun Ray (exhibit 1939). The jury of the Block Salon at the IPS in 1936 considered her works Plein Air and Valentina (rejected) and Wodniacy, which was "accepted as interesting in terms of composition and color and texture." She participated in exhibitions: Warsaw IPS 1936-38, Resursa Obywatelska 1937, TZSP 1938; Krakow TPSP 1939 and Rapperswil 1936 and London 1939 (New Burlington Gallery).
