Jakub Michał Kasprowicz (Zubrza near Lviv 1905 - 1975 Komory near Warsaw) was born into a landed gentry family in the estate of Zubrza near Lviv. As a free student, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. After the war, he settled in Komorów near Warsaw. In his work he was inspired by the paintings of Munich painters. He painted seascapes, horses, harnesses, genre scenes, still lifes, oriental motifs and portraits. In the 1930s he moved to Warsaw, where he had a painting studio and also opened an art salon and a picture framing and restoration business. He spent the summer months at the Baltic Sea, creating seascapes. After the Warsaw Uprising, he was sent to a labor camp in Germany. After the war, he settled in Walbrzych. Using his artistic and technical skills, he opened a factory producing wooden ornaments and toys for children, soon nationalized. He returned to Warsaw in the early 1950s, and worked on the mechanization of frame production at a friend's company. In the 1960s, he began working with Desa, from where his works went to art galleries in Vienna, as well as the United States, the Netherlands and Germany, among others.
