Zygmunt Dobrzycki (1896-1970)
Painter, printmaker, illustrator and educator. Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under the direction of Jacek Malczewski, Jozef Mehoffer and Wojciech Weiss, among others. An artist with a wide range of interests - he created landscapes, genre scenes, figural compositions, but also textile designs and book illustrations.
His works are characterized by poetic realism and subtle stylization of forms, sometimes inspired by folk art and Art Nouveau. During the interwar period, he was associated with the Warsaw art community. He participated in exhibitions at home and abroad, and his works are in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw and Krakow, among others.
Dobrzycki went down in the history of Polish art as an artist with great artistic culture, color sensitivity and a deep understanding of material - both painting and decorative.
