20 Cents, 1964, Sierra Leone circulation coin.
The obverse features a striding lion, the denomination “20 Cents,” and the date “1964.” The reverse features a portrait of Sir Milton Margai, the first prime minister of independent Sierra Leone.
The coin is struck in cupronickel (75% copper, 25% nickel). Weight: 8.25 g; diameter: 26.95 mm. Struck at the Royal Mint in London.
Catalog mintage: 11,000,000 pieces.
The coin is part of the “Coins of All Nations” collector’s series issued by The Franklin Mint and comes in its original envelope with a postage stamp and a postmark.
The envelope is complemented by a Sierra Leone postage stamp with a face value of 15 cents featuring a portrait of Sir Milton Margai.
The envelope was postmarked by the Philatelic Section in Sierra Leone on March 26, 1980.
