Set designer, painter and educator. Creator of about 160 stage designs in opera and drama theaters. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1959) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome (1962). From 1966 to 2005, chief stage designer at the Grand Theater in Warsaw, at the same time working with the world's leading conductors. In 1984, a major retrospective of his painting and stage design works opened at the CBWA Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw. Independently, as a stage designer and director, he produced Penderecki's Passion (1979) and Szymanowski's King Roger (1983). He has won many prestigious awards and prizes.
